Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

I am at my wits' end... and because Jack knows the difference between "Go Bots" and "Transformers" and I don't, it just cost me a drink at Ups. fucking gobots, el-cheapo soviet rip-off of the "autobots..."

Just so it doesn't cost you a drink too... The transformers are robots from another planet that can transform into vehicles. Optimus Prime leads the Autobots against the evil Megatron and his Decepticons.

Whereas the "go bots" are supremely ghetto. They are basically the same thing and geared for the same action figure buying demographic. You'll notice that even their race is inferior to the superior "autobot." Go-bot that's like the "nova" of the machine-car-fold-up-a-action-figure-a-con genre.

And the reason this cost me a drink... as Jack explains, "it comes down to the fundamental battle of the sexes" (and although up until the age of 10 or so I was a supreme tom boy and preferred GI to Barbie) he says that he knows about "transformers" and I "know what a douche is." Ah, it is very clear now.
