the female gaze

Look with your eyes, not with your hands.

Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

A grad student muses on her life, film, friends, politics, reality televizzle, and music.

Overslept this morning. I had two (both) of my classes cancelled today and spent the time being productive in the library. Fighting the growing spring fever and managing to stay focused because the rain spoiled my fun and forced me to be indoors. Can't wait for the thesis to end and send a long, meaningful note to so many friends scattered about in so many places.

Ran the information session for the judicial boards tonight. I think that's going to be wonderful next year, lots of quality individuals returning and I know I am going to be seceded by a worthy successor. I was asked today to sit on a Dean's committee to apply my honor code orientation program (used for the Febs) to the entire first-year class in the Fall. I think the Judicial System is going to be increasingly important at Midd, the discussion of academic honesty and personal integrity is on the rise. I am optimistic and lately more so than ever, I have felt really privledged to serve on this board and alongside my remarkable committee-mates.

Someone made fun of my Mp3 habit today, and yes, it borders on out of control. Song of the day, "The Streets of London" by Cat Stevens. I really miss London actually, I want to go back to Cambridge for Thanksgiving. Sigh, London. Maybe Katie will come with me, I am sure she misses it too.
