the female gaze

Look with your eyes, not with your hands.

Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

A grad student muses on her life, film, friends, politics, reality televizzle, and music.

I have been a waste of a human being, or a tired bag of bones, for the last few days. the heat, getting up early, and over-stimulation has just exhausted me. To unwind, I indulged in an entertaining NBC comedy called Scrubs. Basic plot line - a comedy version of ER.

In tonight's episode - one doctor trainee realizes that her bedside manner is harsh, cold, and brazen. So she tries to be more caring but realizes it's not for her. She finds a patient that shares her views - conversation as follows:

Doctor: Well, I hate all that touchy-feely crap, anyway.

Patient: Why do people feel the need to hug each other all the time. And the kiss hello, what's up with that?

Doctor: Couldn't agree with you more.

Patient: So, what part of Connecticut are you from?

Doctor: Greenwich, you?

Patient: Darien.

In the same episode one of the sassy nurses had a great one-liner. "Don't let her walk off like that - you should never stay mad at a 100-lb blonde woman, you'll freak out every time you see a Land Rover drive by."

ahh, it's as if I never left Midd. I might have to watch this show more frequently.

Meanwhile, Kristin and I are having a meaningful sisterly conversation, here's a taste:
