the female gaze

Look with your eyes, not with your hands.

Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

A grad student muses on her life, film, friends, politics, reality televizzle, and music.

apple is the new black

The Circuits section in the NY Times is mac-happy this week. It's the big apple convention at the jarvits center - and among other things, Steve Jobs reported last night that ipods are being cut $100 and they are coming out with a Windows-based version. I am tempted, so tempted... it's one little amazing gadget I don't think I can continue to live without. As if to sweeten the deal, Apple just opened a SoHo branch (I actually walked by the "opening" last night) and this morning they are handing out free t-shirts. I've learned that there is a market for apple ephemera, so I could even hawk it on-line to make the big bucks. :)

I worked late last night to have the most productive window with my nomadic boss... and then I met Nathan for the cinematically-typical NY dinner of Chinese food and last night Sopporos (continuing the tradition of Asian beers around the City). Can I add how nice it is that you can legally drink in the commuters' lobby downstairs in Grand Central, ah it truly is the perfect end to most nights... Made it home around midnight and I was ready to turn back into a pumpkin - it's been on the exhausting side lately. Hopefully tonight will keep me in the office no later than 8:30 and then I can go back to Ossining for the familiar and missed comforts of ::home:: (not necessarily my home, but a home).

I have some links to post today - will get to that this afternoon.
