the female gaze

Look with your eyes, not with your hands.

Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

A grad student muses on her life, film, friends, politics, reality televizzle, and music.

It's like deja vu all over again

I am back to getting up early - committing myself to a near death wish - 8ams everyday. Getting up early, living on NY time, getting to bed by 1am and letting my fancy Italian coffeemaker wake me up everyday with sweet java aroma. Anyway, I had one class today and not enough to keep me busy, really (yet) and I am sure that tomorrow's three classes will push me almost directly to the brink... anyway to finish this later.

I screwed this post up - but it's hotter than ever before, my sleep induced narcolepsy is back in full effect - and I needed to drink beer at the grille to bridge the gap between one hot and sticky meeting and the next... yeah, drinking beer again. Justin is back in town - 2 times in 24 hours - ah, to be a bored alum nearby, I'll probably be here a lot come February too. Sad.

Oh yeah, lazy me swapped a lit class with a heavy book load for another Andres architecture class (this one is on urban planning and sure to be up to his usual caliber) but it means getting up at 8 - so lazy might be interpreted in a new way...

Instant messenger away message of the day: Beer is the only cure for heat and listlessness.
