the female gaze

Look with your eyes, not with your hands.

Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

A grad student muses on her life, film, friends, politics, reality televizzle, and music.

Rollin' With the Punchies

Okay, we've all been there. We drank lemonade when life dealt out lemons, we mopped up the spilt milk, and we've all laughed at our fair share of "bowls of cherries." Doing a little investigatory work this afternoon I see that the Edinburgh tournament, the one I've put so much sweat into coordinating up to this point, isn't actually happening. We might end up here yes, the premise of this organization is to promote "English" or perhaps we'll be able to go to Dublin over jterm, something that probably isn't too appealing for Yosh who is finishing his thesis then. So I guess we'll see what happens...

On a more productive note - after kicking back some g&ts and watching Mr. Wong with some of the debate novii and Jeremy and Nathan last night, (how I missed Wednesday night drinking) I actually made something of my day. I sent a letter of interest to Real Art Ways in response to a posting they have for a development / grant writing position. I volunteered there a few summers ago and it's great place - gallery, independent cinema, live performances, speakers... in many ways it's the closest Hartford ever gets to the NY art scene. Not something I want to do forever, but it would get me over a very tough hump after college and whatever becomes of after college. Hopefully something there will pan out as a way to stay in the artistic loop with enough flexibility to take a web design class (maybe move onto something more sophisticated than this cookie cutter mindless blog) and go to the movies as often as I can. I bumped into Senator Bruggs and caught a quick gossip-exchanging lunch. Also, I made invitations for my "Old and New Party" (ie. alums and freshies) on Saturday night and now I'm trying to make progress on my three-page Bible paper. I just need to get this out of the way to worry about my impending midterms on Monday and Tuesday which should be good for a mid-seasonal raping. The plan is to get my Judas paper done by din-din, hash out Europe over dinner, and then be absorbed into urban planning and presidency like it's my job. Don't fail me now, trusty palm pilot.
