the female gaze

Look with your eyes, not with your hands.

Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

A grad student muses on her life, film, friends, politics, reality televizzle, and music.

Nice Surprise

Sometimes getting together to gossip about people from high school, with people from high school... well, it's fun. It's scary how many people are getting married or are married or already have children. I like to blame it on Middlebury - but it's my fault too - but I am really far behind in that department, but it seems that a lot of other people are jumping the gun. We discussed this reunion that I am unofficially involved with planning, it should be interesting to see people this time next year. So although it was a little shallow, I still had fun indulging myself. I don't put that much effort into it, maybe I do, but as it turns out, I tend to keep track of people subconsciously, aside from this one actor friend from NYU who everyone bumps into and consistenly loses his email address. As it turns out, I've also made some mutual acquaintances from other schools that cross paths with some high school friends... so that's nice too in a small world kind of way. I enjoyed it. It is interesting to see what became of people - a beer buzz is always fun - and it beat another night reading at home.
