the female gaze

Look with your eyes, not with your hands.

Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

A grad student muses on her life, film, friends, politics, reality televizzle, and music.

All right, I know I am on blogging vacation, but just the same, I am stepping back to tell you all that I aced my Presidency exam and only lost 1/4 of a point on the following indentification. God bless my Professor for feeling generous. This is why it's always best to go for partial credit.

(verbatium) Dien Bien Phu: Mentioned in Chapter 12 of Neustadt involving Ike's decision not to become entangled in Vietnam. Used an an example of insufficient bargaining resources to motivate presidential action.

I owe it to myself to say that this is one of the worst answers I've ever presented on an exam at Middlebury or ever. I would have given myself a 1/4 of a point, max. The rest of my exam was more thought out / better supported.
