the female gaze

Look with your eyes, not with your hands.

Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

A grad student muses on her life, film, friends, politics, reality televizzle, and music.

More wash, a list of do-not-forgets, anxious to swap one home for another...

Leaving in the morning to go back to Midd. Ambitiously setting out by 9am? I've tried to pack all of the things I am prone to forgetting, like my pesky cell phone charger. I need to find and pack my skis, oh my, this will be an interesting graduation ceremony. Other things are important too, like my grad school apps (which in retrospect didn't need to come home at all). Kristin is coming back to Midd with me for the first week and we're both excited about that. The last few days have left me hungering for Vermont more than usual... or maybe just the creature comforts I have gathered there. I miss my bath robe, my favorite coffee cup and my coffeemaker, my loofa...I miss my friends, I miss getting email when I check it, I like having a reason to get up and do something with my day. It's time. It doesn't feel like it's the last time I need to do this...
