the female gaze

Look with your eyes, not with your hands.

Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

A grad student muses on her life, film, friends, politics, reality televizzle, and music.

I am big on responsibility

Today, I dissappoint myself. When it comes to responsibility, I am big on responsibility. If you say you'll do something, you do it. In four years, I've never caved on a debate trip at the last minute, shy of today -- but it's snowing like mad, I am sick as a dog, and well, Dan, I trust that at least one other winter-breaker will cave too and leave you a partner. Well, I owe you one kiddo, and I'll come through some approaching weekend. I am also very sad to be missing Katie's soiree and a chance to visit with other Bostonians - but seriously folks, I am sick, miserable, and I'd be a better house guest once I've recovered and I don't have to drive for three treacherous hours in the snow.
