the female gaze

Look with your eyes, not with your hands.

Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

A grad student muses on her life, film, friends, politics, reality televizzle, and music.

Scamming Filene's

If shopping were an Olympic sport... I think Jack and I would be contendors for the US National team. Filene's is chucked full of good bargins and it's a place where you can often get more off than you deserve if you play your cards right. A few weeks back, I bought a stunning and expensive winter wool coat. Today, I re-bought the same coat at its new sale price with a 20%-off coupon tacked on and above the bargain level. $40 more off. Advantage, me. Then I meandered around, bought my father a belated birthday gift, and some "unmentionables" at 20% on top of still-impressive department sales. All of this winded me, so to speak, and I've been tired since I got home so no additional activity, of the elliptical trainer variety, in store for me tonight. Okay, dinner's here, I'll finish later.
