Slacker
In talking to a friend tonight, who happens to be an avid reader as well, he mentioned that he hasn't been able to pull my blog for five days. I apologize if this problem is affecting others. It may have something to do with my counter (it's on the kaputz) but I'll try to get it straightened away. I haven't posted in about five days, nothing wrong with your monitor displays, I am
just that lazy.
A quick weekend that incorporated a choice few of my favorite weekendy things; namely going out for drinks and sleeping late. Last night was a blast from the past - one of my managers is dating a manager at one of the clubs in Hartford, and as a result, group outing was planned. Since we had an in, I pulled along my still-very-underage little sister. She was in good company though, as several of our club-happy pals were recent high school graduates or still south of magical legality. Although I felt like a chaperone, I still enjoyed myself - and being out at a bar with my sister brought back happy memories from our trip to Toronto two winter's ago. I give those youngsters credit, when I was their age, I was terrified to be anywhere near an open container.
Slept in, not having to be to work until noon, and somehow sleeping until 11am made working on a Sunday okay. I really hate Sundays - hands down, they are always my least favorite day to work. In retail, Sundays are exactly the same as Saturdays, only you have to squeeze three-hours more into an already busy day when everyone else in the world seems to be off and every time they have to wait, they impatiently glare at you as if to telekinetically mime: "you know you are wasting my day off." Guess what, it's not my day off and cut me some slack when I have ten people in line all with the dagger eyes, the phone won't stop ringing, and co-workers are tugging at me. Whatever, I am home, it's over, I have four of these dreadful days left until I change time zones, and tomorrow will have to count as my honorary Sunday in light of crazy scheduling. Just about a week until the store "re-model" begins and I start chalking up the sixteen-hour shifts and find out how it is to be a member of the working poor, getting by on diet coke and excedrin.
Tomorrow is my first legitimate day off in ages and I am treating myself to some technological-type presents, including the camera and VCR I so desperately need to be a better person. I should also unload my car at some point as I went houseware shopping last week and still have a backseat filled with pans and a vegetable peeler and make-shift shelving unit from
Tarjay.
Put it on pause... not much else to report, the weather has been tauntingly cool and breezy. Still a lot on tonight's docket -
HBO's Project Greenlight and then
Citizen Kane from the SW PL.
