the female gaze

Look with your eyes, not with your hands.

Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

A grad student muses on her life, film, friends, politics, reality televizzle, and music.

Too much drinkie drinkie... I am not a kid anymore. I think a few more diet cokes and once my advil kicks in, I'll be in fighting shape. But these are the after-remarks of a good party. I had a very good time, the whole department was there - it was a very good time. Several G&Ts and a few beers later... it was a very good time. I have no idea what time I came home.

The film last night was very very good, Honor Among Lovers. I think I've developed a crush on Frederic March from all of these movies. He plays a good gentleman and that's a character I love to love - a professor, a businessman with great suits, and there's something distinctively charming about Art Deco New York apartments from the 1920s and 30s. I think there's another week or two of these films and I have enjoyed the series up until this point.
