I live in constant fear that my computer is on the verge of crashing again. I keep getting strange error messages and continue to have problems booting up smoothly.

I have a feeling that my budget is going to have to accomodate a new machine sooner than expected. Meanwhile, is anyone in the market for a used laptop that is great for general use, just can't live up to the daily grind of a neurotic grad student??
