the female gaze

Look with your eyes, not with your hands.

Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

A Whole New World

Okay, my whole life is Macalious now. My ibook arrived this morning and I am getting use to walking to the tune of a new drummer - honestly, the Windows XP / OS X platforms aren't really that different (just look at the names), it just takes time to master the subtle changes and get a handle on this thing called "the dock" (the icon row at the bottom of the screen). For PC-people out there, a "doc" is just a file, and we have handy things called 'tool bars' that I already slightly miss when it comes to things like Microsoft Word. For the time being, I am still annoyed to not have Microsoft Office, but hopefully that will be up and running again soon and then I really feel like life will start to be functional again. Until then, I still have a lot of things to figure out, like all of these keystroke shortcuts using the "open apple key." Today I was able to get most of my documents and programs up and working, I've compiled my new syllabus for the start of teaching tomorrow.

Tonight I have to go and see the dreaded LOTR for a colloquim talk this week. Over the long weekend I saw lots of new movies and I'll write about them later. Now that I have Internet access from home, expect the posts more regularly and better timing on the posts (it'll be dynamic). But I am alive and well and all the more stylish with the ibook under my arm.
