the female gaze

Look with your eyes, not with your hands.

Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

A grad student muses on her life, film, friends, politics, reality televizzle, and music.

Is it Friday, yet?

It's too early in the week to be complaining and demanding another weekend, yet, I just can't help it. This afternoon I feel like I got hit by a truck and sometime between the 90-min premiere of the new Amazing Race on CBS that I've been looking forward to for my whole life, writing the program notes for this Friday's screening of Lars Von Trier's The Five Obstructions that Tom roped me into, and planning tomorrow's lecture (and it's looking like I'll have to improv this one because my Hepburn films haven't arrived from Netflix) I need to find time to get a little shut eye.

I got a haircut today, I feel like a new woman, but a tired new woman.

Eric comes back tomorrow after not having seen him in two months... and what turns out has been an eventful two months. Already excited to have my other better half back.
