Look with your eyes, not with your hands.


Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

Hopefully leaving for St. Louis sooner rather than later. There seems to have been a little miscommunication with UHaul, so when the truck is ready (they are apparently "working on it") we are ready to pack up and go.

Driving and shopping planned for today. More driving, unpacking and assembly planned for tomorrow. Monday, more unpacking, more driving. But looking forward to it being done.

I stayed up way too late last night scrambling to finish an SCMS paper proposal for the annual cinema studies conference in London (it rotates). Hopefully my paper will be accepted to this proposed panel and then I just have to write the darn thing (and not have to worry about getting accepted). But I proposed a paper on representations of the City in Tsai Ming-liang's contemporary Taiwanese films. I pulled together a decent abstract / bibliography, but it's always hard when one is still new to a field, without enough friends to just make things happen.

Anyway, I am still kind of sleepy and not that sharp from sleep deprivation, but I still hope to get the show on the road by the early afternoon.
