the female gaze

Look with your eyes, not with your hands.

Such a minute fraction of this life do we live: so much is sleep, tooth-brushing, waiting for mail, for metamorphosis, for those sudden moments of incandescence: unexpected, but once one knows them, one can live life in the light of their past and the hope of their future.

A grad student muses on her life, film, friends, politics, reality televizzle, and music.

So begins the cold season in Wisconsin... and once it gets cold, it only gets worse before it gets better. My fingers are little little iciciles in our unheated office. Great fun.

This week has a built-in light at the end of the tunnel thing going on. This Friday I am going to Chicago to meet Patrick, eat Rick Bayles food and see movies as part of the Chicago film festival. Should be a lot of fun with a Saturday triple-header of Angelopolous, Godard and Kore-eda. My batteries need some recharging and Sunday is reserved for unspecified fun - museum, shopping or just old-fashioned urban dyanmism to the rescue.

Ah yes.. fall is in the air.
